From Section 6 (Buffalo)...
Something that became evident to me as I watched my nephew's varsity volleyball team this past fall as they made a deep run in the playoffs...
To field a good/great volleyball team, a team needs 6 quality starters.
To field a good/great basketball team, a team needs 6 players (5 quality starters and a competent sub).
Yet, to field a good/great wrestling team, a team needs 15 starters.
Schools that traditionally had strong individual programs are now merging their wrestling teams together and still struggle to field full teams.
I'm not sure what the solution is, but we need to figure out a way to increase our numbers or else the sport will die.
