One BIG reason you couldn’t predict finalists a year in advance , 30-40 years ago was because there was no internet.
When we wrestled a team one section away from us, we didn’t know anyone in the lineup.

Heisen.
TOO MANY UPPER LEVEL PEEWEES IN THE SPORT....NO WAY kids like any of these RUGRATs would make a dent on HS Varsity mat 30-40 yrs ago.....TOO MANY upperclassmen in the Sport then- TOO MANY dropping 10-20 lbs to wrestle ....Middle School had their own Teams w/ wrestle -offs.
7th , 8th, 9th graders are MOVING UP because there are not older QUALITY kids in their way...4x, 5x NYS Champs is NOT success for the Sport in this State
Back when you were talking ALL Sections had STUDs....Each weight class at LI Sectionals wERE not pre-determined except for a few..but, even then the BEST were pushed
Your generalization is not accurate - too predictable today and for the last 15 yrs. Find me a weight class that has FOUR wrestlers - nose to nose. Im amazed at the amount of falls in the semis and finals on Long Island....not good !!!

LI,
At least 133 at the collegiate level is stacked. Who you got coming out on top?

133 lbs is so diverse in styles.
Micic should be tested today w/ Suriano.
The PSU kid....is dangerous. Desanto/ Fix are credible opps. No one is talking about Lizak who could be dangerous if, he repels neutral attacks
I cant make a call here. Gun to my head. I'll take the freshmen Daton Fix.

IMO Lizak has no shot of top 4...there are 4 or 5 legit studs who can win it all at 133...but not Lizak...he has too many bad matches to get through the guantlet here. He may not even AA. I guess about 6th for him.

Im not saying LIZAK is an obvious stand-out....BUT, he's been here before...if, he can thwart neutral offense attacks- he is very good offensively on the mat.....The BIG 10 Tourney will be very interesting...also, as far as seeds for the NCAA Tourney. If, Micic gets beat at the BIG 10s...which is possible. Fix gets a #1 seed at the NCAAs.
I agree....if, LIZAK loses somewhere in the NCAAs- He may not AA.
BTW. Lantry had a BAD loss the other day.

Lizak does have a suffocating top game, but his gas tank is suspect...remember the Gilman match? He straight gassed out...and I mean OUT.
