I am a bit out of the loop this season, who are our top Dawgs this year, who will be rocking the purple singlets come end of season at each weight? Opinions/predictions/names to watch out for as the season progresses...etc.

I know this doesn't answer your question but speaking of recent top dogs from Sec V does anyone know if Bradley Cheek is wrestling anywhere? Was supposed to be wrestling for UB and competed over the summer but never appeared on their roster. Was looking forward to seeing him compete for the Bulls.

Was surprised to see Casper Stewart and Mason Wersinger lose at Counties.

When will Greg D. Be back?

Agreed with Wersinger, you've got to really be on your game to beat him. Props to his opponent. Not as familiar with Stewart but obviously a tough kid. Great to see quality wrestling at this point of the season, will be interesting to see how kids/coaches adjust and how it plays out down the stretch.

Shocked that Wersinger lost to Sanko who is very good, but Mason handled him a few times last year. Must be Sanko had the date circled for the last year. I believe Sanko did better at states last year...good win for him. I like Mason at the end of the season though.

Mason hasn't wrestled since February-- Had shoulder surgery shortly after that to repair ruptured ligaments and was medically cleared only in late October. Kudos to him and Sanko for a hard fought match. More great things to come from both of them.

With the Final Four for Section V team set, I'd handicap it thusly:

Hilton by 15 over Pittsford

Spencerport by 31 over Rush-Henrietta

Spencerport by 18 over Hilton

Are there box scores for these duals?

Spencerport wins by large margin against Hilton.

He is probably not UB's top guy at his weight?

I think there is a good chance that he would have been since they are starting another true freshman that wrestled 106 last year in HS and has struggled a bit while growing into the weight. Regardless you would still be on the team and likely redshirting if you aren't the top guy at your weight at the start of your true freshman year. It looks like he just never joined the team....maybe he decided to go to a different school or skip a year or an injury...something like that.

I was told Cheek quit UB and joined the service. Maybe someone can verify that.
