I agree winning percentage should be the new standard of the old school "century club", which is no longer as elite as it was back in the day.

If I remember correctly, Jantzen lost his very first varsity match in 7th grade, lost in the state semi's later the same year, and lost
in the state semi's the following year.
So, if you look at his regular season statistics he only lost once, then he had the 2 matches he lost at State.

It appears the reason that Results Matters started this is to have an updated Total Wins List for New York State. The current one is outdated and lacking many wrestlers.
It would also be great if NYSPHSAA would keep a record of total win percentage.
Going forward, It appears NWCA Scorebook should have the capabilities to track each easily .
Murphy did have 302 wins.... 96% wins

A record is just stats that someone keeps and based on what is found here in NYS not very well kept. I mean maybe they are but it is sure hard for the public to find hence everything that has been added not currently on NYS site.
Really it is more than wins and losses or percentages. What were quality wins and were most of the wins against a lessor opponents. Did they have true quality wins.
A good wrestler is so much more than there record.

True, but sports lends itself to record keeping. Nothing wrong there.
I lived many years back in the day reading the sports pages for any box scores of base ball games I could find.
When I found a top 10 batting average list I was in high heaven !

out of our (NYS) top 16 win leaders of all time, only Mike Nevinger has been a college all American. I know some are still working towards it but it puts it into prospective how tough it really is.

It doesn't matter how many wins an athlete gets, if they don't translate that success into something meaningful or much grander on a bigger stage, what truly has been learned. Like the gentleman above indicated, only 1 all-american out of the top 16 all time state winners. Let's expound on these top state winning record success stories and answer the question: Where are they now?
