I know each State is different when it comes to rules. Back in the day when I wrestled . The referee would come to the locker room and check length of finger nails, facial hair, and length of the hair on top (Ben Askren). Is that practice now done today? Refs still doing the inspections? That video went viral fast and was AJ warned before hand to cut the dreads or wear a head cover commonly practiced?

I read that the ref did not give the head cover option. Cut the hair or forfeit was the choice given.
