Diplomats hold off NYU

LANCASTER, PA - The Franklin & Marshall Diplomats opened their 2006-07 campaign today at Mayser Gym with a 22-16 victory over New York University.

At 125, Jake Bucha took a major decision to give the Diplomats a 4-0 lead that they would never fully relinquish. F&M took consecutive decisions on points by Austin Reed and Al Gianforti before NYU got on the board with wins at 149 and 157. Justin Herbert put the Dips back on track as he needed only 53 seconds to record a pin. NYU narrowed the match score to 16-13 with a fall at 174 and evened it at 16-16 with a decision at 184. But Shawn Logue put the Diplomats back in front for good with a 7-2 decision at 197. Nico Somers finished off NYU with a 10-3 victory.

Franklin & Marshall will be back in action on November 25 at the Mat Town Tournament in Lock Haven, PA.
