ALL SECTIONAL CHAIRS HAVE VOTED TO GO WITH FEDERATION RULES AND ELIMINAT THE 96LB CLASS. IT IS NOW BEFORE THE NY STATE COMMINTY. IT SEEMS THE SECTIONAL CHAIRS DESIDED TO DO THIS WITH OUT ANY INPUT FROM THE PUBLIC.
I would like to start an on-line petition to keep the 96lb class in New York State. If anyone one, with a little more computer savvy would like to help me please e-mail me at shawnellismurphy@hotmail.com.
I would like to send the petition to the committee and our NY State Representatives.
I am in favor of counting 275/285 in duels, but believe we should also provide opportunity for our lighter wrestlers. Not only should 96lbs be kept, but it should count in duel meets across the state instead of in certain leagues.
I have always loved wrestling because it never mattered how big or small you are. To eliminate this opportunity would be wrong. My son Quinton would have not been on varsity or JV this year if there had not been a 96lb class. This decision will hurt my other three kids I have coming up who have been working as hard. My kids are small. If this goes through I believe my youngest will be forced to wait until he is in 10th 0r 11th grade until he could compete at the varsity level. Why so we can be like other states?
I can name many wrestlers who wrestle 96 that would have lost opportunity.
SECTION 5
Jamie Carpenter (06) Attica
Melia
Stackhouse
Dierna
Mowry
Montonte
The list goes on.
We have two kids on our team who should be ready next year, one is in 9th grade this year I doubt he will be above 94 or 96, so now what will he do? He is too old for the youth circuit. So he practices and maybe his senior year he is big enough. It was bad enough when NY dropped the 91 class. Wrestling is not like other sports and that’s the way I like it. We don’t 5 to 11 giant players who look exactly the same. We have a team of 15 who are of every size and weight.
DON’T HURT WRESTLIN IN NY KEEP THE 96LB CLASS!

I totally agree 96 lbs are some of the best wrestlers in the state it would be a shame to eliminate the weight class and if they did it would hurt those at 96 lbs b/c they would be forced to wrestle up a weight class I think 275 and 96 should count in duels
