yes, that was my point. Either a 4 or 6 point swing, as I believe a healthy M/W would have been able to hold him for the pins he almost had.

Can we conclude the following from this years UE tournament?
1. If your wrestling team is from Long Island and your team does not win UE, you will whine about the sponsors, and make excuses for what could have happend if the tournament was "Fair". (Now we know where Marty gets it from...its a cultural thing!)
2. My reports on the tournament were mostly true (LOL) Listening to results on a cell phone from a packed Gym I swear I heard Fairport VS MW was "Not Close".
3. Each year there will be at least 1 team who thinks they deserve to be there but somehow got overlooked.
4. Each year there will be at least 1 teams that is there and has high expectations and leaves with a new understanding of what a great team is. (This team should get the Chanango Forks Award)

Still alot of sour grapes about seeding on the island, including what appears to be the Wantagh coach posting, claiming brackets favored upstate. Note that on their website they said the brackets were 'tough, but fair' looking forward to seeing MW for a rematch in the final before the tournament, so they obviously believed everything Marty has told them about Spencerport and section V. After the tourney, the brackets were 'wrong.'
This one:

MacArthur stands up for UE brackets, and the upstate coaches. He makes a very good post, as a team that has been coming to UE for years, vs. Wantagh showing up once.

(ps...NO EXCUSES....some Coaches think there is enoUgh competition ALL YEAR in Suffolk not to worry about being called the BEST IN TEAM)
Marty - Remember what I said about the last quote being BS? I think it is obvious that they do care or they would not be crying about the brackets and being number 4 instead of number 2. I just had to laugh when I saw the quotes from the Whine-taugh coach. Please do us a favor and send John Glenn up next year for good old cow country butt whooping just tell them to leave the excuses home. Next year may be worse - Spencerport will only lose 2 from the line up.

i dont understand why they are crying. they had an opportunity to wrestle the eventual champs, they should be pleased with that. i cant believe they would put this crap on there website. excuses, excuses. i know the seeds were not the best, but you got a chance at the champs.

Wantagh finished the day 2-1 at one of the hardest dual tournaments of the year in New York State. The Warriors started the day off with a victory over Suffolk County rival, Sayville HS of Section 11, 47-18. In a second round match up, the Warriors took on defending State Champion Spencerport, HS of Section 5 losing a close match 36-20. The team rebounded with an easy victory over 6th seeded Fulton HS of Section 3, 49-14. This was a difficult tournament because of the seeding criteria. A lot of the teams were not seeded correctly and there was no meeting with coaches to get their input. Teams were placed at the mercy of the host team. Wantagh was seeded 8th which gave them a second round match up with the defending champions. The format should be changed in the future where each team would be placed into two pool’s where the top two teams can advance against the other bracket. There was some great matches during the course of the day. Thomas Hall took on the returning state champion at 215, Paul Glover and lost a close match 10-4. This was a critical bout keeping the team alive. Everyone gave their all. The JV team wrestled matches as well. The team is 8-3 with the league matches starting. Please click on the schedule. All the hard work is paying off. Keep it up and be at practice. Lets stand together.
thomas hall had a close match with paul glover.......every time paul shot he took him down and i believe the only four points scored by hall were from glover letting him up
Bob, glover wrecked hall.... however, a sophomore giving up 26 lbs to a state champ, I believe hall did his job.
