Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that you're making the argument that Suffolk is more dominant than ever - and you're doing it (this time) by using Glenn as a proxy, when the vast majority of years the UE duals are won by an upstate team that only gets challenged by a Suffolk team when the stars are in alignment. You're dancing around the gaping holes in the argument and that's what is getting under people's skin. Glenn is without question the best team in the state this year and they have proven it. Where you lose people (and make them understandably angry) is making the claim that they were the best team in the state last year when some other hard working group of kids won that title fair and square. I find it irritating and it's not even my team that you are indirectly denigrating.
Suffolk was undeniably dominant in the War Memorial years, but I think that they've lost a step, to say the least. Look at Section V's performances at the state tournament in the past few years. Sec 2 has also vastly improved. Sec 4 made a leap many years ago. All-sec 11 finals mean nothing. We had one last year and both of the best kids in the weight were D2 (Nevinger/ Dake). I'd argue that the 135 final should have been all-sec 5 with Hendrickson giving Paddock a close match in the semis - how's that for "quality depth"?
As an aside, is there anything quantitative to back up the statement about Suffolk being the #6-8 area for college recruitment? Look at the college rankings for the New York kids. It doesn't support your assertion.
You hit the nail on the head here. If I can make one more thing clear, I like Marty, he's a great fan of the sport but he hurts his own credibility in backing his part of the state to a fault. Until the day comes that by some better venue exists to determine the state team title it will remain UE. If your team/coach wants the title you travel. Its that simple. He can argue the cost of the trip bullcrap but let's be real, if Spencerport and NW can afford to make the trip so can any other school in the state. If your team makes the decision to not make the trip, you have no basis to say they could have or should have been number 1. This is where Marty makes his haters and this is a shame because I find it hard to crap on a guy who supports his team, county or section. I might give them a ration of crap from time to time but when they win I have no issue in saying "good work, you guys earned it". For what ever reason Marty doesn't have those words in his vocabulary, if he were to some day begin using these words he might earn the respect he deserves.
Let's face it, Marty does a lot for wrestling in his part of the state, he brought us the internet feed of UE which was great to have and if you had a kid on the JG team you would have a lot of respect for the guy.

bob,
that whole John Glenn line-up started wrestling for the Blue Wave Peewees in 1999 TO 2006 .
I guess Hauppauge/ Longwood/ Sachem East/ and Brentwood recruits too- too funny !!!!!!!!!
Terdick, Fusaro, Giaramita, and some former graduates Castellano/Sinisgalli all were from the first class- in 1999.
very similar to Team X - in your area with the Paddocks. You build it- they will come.
aw sorry ......"transfer"...... where any kids from glenns team "transferred" there
and as for your innuendo about warsaw ......if they recruit they don't do a very good job

Sec 5 wasn't as strong for the same reason sec 11 isn't as strong now. Things change.
