I want to thank all the families who came out today to support the Fairport Youth Wrestling Classic. We had 420 wrestlers representing over 50 different wrestling clubs from NYS. Wrestling started at 9:30 and was completed at 3:45. We ran mostly 5 man round robin brackets and the competition was fierce. The wrestlers who competed should make everyone proud and the parents and supporters of the wrestlers where awesome. I hope everyone who came out had a good experience and will come back again.
As the tournament director I can say things went well but were not perfect. I want to apologize to the kids on Mat 5 by the stands, we learned that was a terrible location to split a mat. And I am sure it made some matches go unexpected. We have learned and have already discussed an adjustment. We wanted 10 wrestling surfaces this year and that was the wrong mat to split. I do apologize for that. The tournament went well, but was not perfect. We do hope for the "perfect" youth tournament and will try for it again next year. I hope you all had a good time and will be back.

Brackets were done upon arrival, no waiting on weigh-ins, tournament flowed great, concessions were fantastic, and no trophy issues. Great job Coach Unger and Fairport crew.
