I am trying to get some kids out to fill a high school team. Wrestling is not a fan favorite here. But I thought maybe if I could list some famous athletes or people who had success in high school or college wrestling then maybe I can get them to join. Obviously, you and I all know about the true wrestling greats but I can almost garauntee none of them will know who Dan Gable or anyone else at that level is. I need some famous names just so I can spark some interest. So far the only two I can think of (being in the Florida area) is Ray Lewis who was a high school state champion from Lakeland and Eric Rhett a former running back for the tampa bay buccaneers. I'm aware of all the UFC guys but I don't know how familiar these high school kids would be of them. If anyone can throw me some names I would really appreciate it. Thanks

brock lesner and kurt angle, little do most people know but abe lincoln was a wrestler. but wrestling isnt about being famous its a humble sport, its a hard sport, its not something for the weak of heart, just do what recuiters do tell them all the great things share some storys about the tough times but make it seem awesome

If you add politicians; Dennis Hastert and Donald Rumsfeld were both state champions.
