I think there's room for improvement in the U-E Duals. Three problems I see are these:
(a) a lot of teams only get 3 matches
(b) you need to make the semis to place top 4
(c) you need to make the quarters to place top 8
Making it a 2-day affair would probably prevent some teams with tighter budgets from coming. Remaining a 1-day tourney, here's an alternate that addresses issues (a) and (b):
ROUND 1
- round of 16 (just like today)
ROUNDS 2-4
- round robin 4 pools of 4 teams:
- Pool A: top bracket winners
- Pool B: bottom bracket winners
- Pool C: top bracket losers
- Pool D: bottom bracket losers
ROUND 5
1st. A1 vs. B1
3rd. A2 vs. B2
5th. A3 vs. B3
7th. A4 vs. B4
9th. C1 vs. D1
11th. C2 vs. D2
13th. C3 vs. D3
15th. C4 vs. D4
I think if they ran it this way, the results would be more accurate. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I like it but you would have to find another mat. 7 mats would not work for this format

can't have that format with all that wrestling as a 1 day tournament but can't make it a 2 day tournament either. first, only seven mats. the 3 downstairs really only have room for the wrestlers to stand too. second, there would be wrestling alllll day and finals would not start until late. there are teams that travel many hours away and the money issue comes into play too.
